Pradosh Vrat: Pradosh Vrat comes twice in a month, one in Krishna Paksha and one in Shukla Paksha. Some people do only one Pradosh Vrat in a month, while some people do both. Shukla Paksha’s Pradosh Vrat is on 1st June, Thursday. It is believed that the person observing Pradosh Vrat comes out of the cycle of birth after birth and moves forward on the path of salvation, he attains the best world. It is believed that by observing Pradosh Vrat one gets the virtue of donating two cows. The fast of Pradosh is observed only for 11 or 26 Pradosh at a time. Udyapan of Pradosh Vrat should always be done in a proper way. Always observe this fast on Trayodashi date only. Shri Ganesha is worshiped a day before Udyapan and on the night before Udyapan, there is Jagran while doing kirtan. The next day, wake up early in the morning and make a mandap and decorate it with clothes and rangoli. After this havan should be performed by chanting Om Uma Maheshwaraya Namah and Om Shivay Namah Mantra 108 times.
After the Havan is over, Lord Shiva’s Aarti and Shanti Path should be performed. At the end, feed two brahmins and send them away after taking blessings from them and donating as per your wish and ability. Udyapan of Pradosh Vrat done with this method is considered complete.
